Here I simply gathered the best of my snaps from the (first) stay on Madeira island,
which I haven't use anywhere in previous stories. Possible technical questions have simple
answer(s): Contax G1 + G Planar 45/2, Kodak Supra, Fuji Reala, sometimes Fuji Provia 100F
and Velvia, of'course tripod. I made also some panoramic snaps, I'm just too lazy to sken
them properly and put in one piece.
Snap on heading I captured by total coincidence - as most of good pictures. We stopped
at some resting place and took a path deeper to forest, full of curved trees. I took a few
snaps just for the sake of practice, and so this one. If you are stuggling for air just
now, remember that on this island "everything" is just too photogenic and it
almost impossible to select the best.

I captured this tree on top of Monte, over Monte
palace gardens. It was a little bit misty, when we climbed here, but as usually we
dealt with weather without problems -- many times I say "under non-standard
conditions it's time to make fabulous pictures" Not that it is easy to take snaps
when it's raining, snowing, freezing etc., but when you are lucky, results will surely pay
out (I forgot very early mornings). This snap
looks printed much better than scan, and so far it handles one of top places on ContaxG (Update: now it is placed in 2001 hall
of fame). Concering big competition on that site, I can be really proud of this.
Picture is not black & white, as it might seems, it is on Fuji Reala, I left that
green leaf on top of frame (say hello to all the picky ones!)

On time we also made a trip along famous "levadas", which are
more or less water canals. All the system of levadas on Madeira has several thousands of
kilometers and draw water from mountains, where it's rainy, to the valleys on south. This
picture is from levada described as a "photographer's challenge". Reality was
more modest (my brother asked literally "what are those dithes?"), but this snap
což jsou zavlažovací kanály pro políčka. Celý systém levad na Madeiře má
několik desítek kilometrů a svádí vodu z hor, kde častěji prší a je vlhčeji, do
údolí, nejčastěji na jihu. Tento snímek je z levady, která byla popsána jako
"Photography challenge". Skutečnost byla poněkud prostší (brácha se přímo
zeptal "co je to tam za škarpy?") ale tento snímek se docela povedl. Expozice
byla snad 16 sekund.

Také tento úlovek se mi docela povedl. Musel bych se podívat na film,
abych přesně lokalizoval místo, ale to snad není ani tak podstatné. Scéna totiž
trvala jenom pět minut. Jakmile jsem ji spatřil, smykem jsem zabrzdil u cesty, vytáhl
stativ (Radka odmítla vystoupit, byla totiž docela zima), a stihl udělat jeden záběr.
Pak mlha postoupila a bylo po atmosféře. Můžete mít někdo dojem, že je to les jako
u nás, ale zatím se mi takový záběr v českých podmínkách nepovedl.

Zhruba ve stejných místech, jako je výše zmiňovaná levada, jsem
našel i tenhle kořen. Mech sám měl jedovatě zelenou barvu, no a Zeiss objektiv + Fuji
Velvia to dorazily. Je to dosti přeexponované, originál se utápěl ve stínu.

No a taky sem musím přidat ještě jednou vavřínový lesík, neboť ta
nádhera za to opravdu stojí. Jestli na Madeiru někdo pojedete, určitě si jej nenechte
ujít. Nejlepší je to přes týden, vyhnete se piknikům, a za lehké mlhy.

mám(e) ještě daleko více, ale těch *nej* je jako vždy pár. |
