Another year passed and another vacation time came. At last, we spent our leave days on the same island, only this time during the fall season... I think it was a good choice as we've brought about 40 (exposed) films and more than that, better pictures. After all, there is still something to learn, and territory was not unknown to us. For the sake of comparision I included a few images similar to the ones I've made before... and of'course, some new ones.

Sunrise from pico Areiro (33KB)

Lets start this time with sunrise, although we saw that spectacular scenery almost at the end of our stay (after long psychic preparations). We've made a little bit better pictures than the year before, and mainly thanks to people - apart from fundamental ecologists I'm not annoyed by people walking in landscape scenery, better than that, they mostly make picture complete, especially its scale. Here some group gathered on a viewpoint and enjoyed the scenery as we did... that small island among a lot of clouds was really impressive.

As before we were looking for mist, as it is very easy to forsee when/where it would be (but anyway weather conditions are changing minute by minute). Maybe I'm really suited for snaps ala "jungle chaos", so on the right there is one of that kind. As with most of my pictures actual print is much better than scan, but anyway it is visible how G Planar is "painting"

Trees on mountain trail (105KB)

Alone tree on Paul Da Serra (62KB)

As I mentioned retrospective at the beginning, here is one. It took us a little bit of time to find this tree (there is suprisingly more than one), but at the end we really enjoyed taking "same" snaps. This one is taken with polarizing filter Kaesemann - I put thin tape with numbers on filter rim. Work is complicated (turn, remember, skrew, turn to memorized position, take snap), but actual results are quiet nice. Skies are deeply saturated, as for ferns, they were maybe even more colorful.

At some places, especially on the way to pico Areiro from Funchal, there are very nice roads. Well, I mean really nice, with a little bit of blue cast, complementing rusty ferns around. So this is one typical classical "S" curve.

Mist in forest (77KB)

So one more mist, what about this one... taken late afternoon, shutter speeds were about some seconds, but what the heck... with tripod, who cares. Only weather could be a little bit warmer... we found that place like most of the others, i. e. by total coincidence, driving by at proper time.
